July Newsletter:
A message from Jennifer - Project Coordinator
July 2007
Summer is upon on us and things are getting Hot with The Magic Paintbrush Project! With a full schedule of individual and group appointments in July, we are excited to be sharing our summer with so many! August is booking fast, let us know if you need an appointment!
We have much to report for this past month - please celebrate the summer with us!
Our studio welcomed it's 2,000th Participant this past month, and our wonderful space is a gift from the Oakdale Mall without it - reaching this milestone would have been quite impossible! Many thanks to the Oakdale Mall for their continued support of our Project and help us reach our possABILTIES!
We also received an incredible gift from our community through the Community Foundation for South Central New York! Our successful grant for $7,500 will allow us to expand the number of participants and trained volunteers. It is such an honor to receive this grant and we are very grateful to the Community Foundation for their commitment to our program.
July started off beautifully as we participated in Binghamton's First Friday Art Walk. For the second year, Orazio Salati sponsored the art of The Project, and we thank Jeff Envid at OMRDD's Family Supoprt Services and Kradjian Enterprises for the "gallery" space. This was our third First Friday show since we started - and it was a thrill to be a part of the greater Binghamton community for this event!
We are teaming up for "A Home Run For the Project", a series of events over the summer season wit eth Binghamton Mets Baseball Club. Kicking off the festivities, we welcomed the club to our studio for a workshop that will long be remembered with a smile. (Check out the pictures in the photo gallery). Our second annual "Paint with the Players" was fantastic - and it's hard to know who had more fun - the players of the families! One parent's comment was "All I could see and hear was the laughter!" and Scotty Brown of the B-Mets said that it was "the best player appearance" Already there is conversation about what we will do next year!
We followed that up with a stadium appearance with WWE wrestler Mick Foley! Mick came to the stadium and signed autographs and greeted his fans and the B-Mets donated the proceeds to The Project! Our heartfelt gratitude to Mick and the B-Mets for their support! We had a great time answering questions and meeting Mick at the Stadium. We expecially loved the comments about the pictures with the paint covered players. One child asked "Did that really happen??" When we answered "yes" he just said 'Woooow! That's really cool!" And he was right - it was really cool!
Next we will be painting Ice Cream Bowls with the entire B-Mets Team with our good friends at The Clayground of Vestal! The Ice Cream Bowls will be auctioned off on August 18th to benefit the Project! Ives Cream will be joining us for these fun filled days at NYSEG stadium!
As you can see our summer has started off like the Fireworks at the Fourth of July!
Can you hear the laughter? Can you see the colors? I hope you can capture them with us! Please not our guestbook is up and running - we'd love to hear from you!
Thanks for visiting the website and checking out what's new!
